Khunjerab pass which is the main route for trade between China and Pakistan is located in Gilgit Baltistan has opened after 03 year of Covid-19
It was closed in 2020 to reduce the spread of the corona virus. This virus was spreading very fast in China. As for safety the government decided to close it for some days but with the spread of Covid-19, it became difficult to open the rout until three years passed.
According to report the Chinese officials delivered a letter to Pakistani command regarding to open the Khunjerab pass trade route. They had decided to check all kind of shipments from Pakistan.
However Pakistan has also insisted that both China and Pakistan need to take care and take precautionary measures.
The opening of this route will not only help Pakistan but also the economy of China itself, this will lead to trade, and some houses will be inhabited again.
PM Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif called it the main pillar of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and reopening of Khunjerab pass is good news for Pakistan.
According to report this rout normally opens from 1st of April to last day of November every year, and be unused in December to 31 of March. The main reason is the cold weather of Gilgit Baltistan.
The Khunjerab Pass Trade Rout is at high altitude and it will cause lack of oxygen and many other problems during winter season that is the reason why this rout is closed in winter.
According to Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Shahbaz Sharif China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) play a vital role in the development of Pakistan. He further added that China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a gift given by former Prime Minister (FPM) Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
Khunjerab pass is at the height of 15397 feet above to the sea level, it is the only route which connects Gilgit Pakistan and China. Through this pass Pakistan makes import and export in China.
As China wants to expend its BRI system (Belt and Road Initiative) the aim of BRI is to build economical corridors across the world so Khunjerab pass play its vital role for China to make a good trade with Pakistan.
In Pakistan side there the region is Gilgit Baltistan and on the other side the region is Xinjiang. The CPEC and Khunjerab pass is a symbol of friendship between Pakistan and China.
