Dr. Musadik Malik who is minister of state for petroleum while talking with a private TV channel said that Pakistan is going to receive its first shipment of crude oil from Russia in coming month.
The minister disclosed in an interview with a private news channel that Moscow agreed to offer Islamabad a discount similar to those offered to neighboring countries, which has been deemed a welcome gesture.
The minister and the secretary of petroleum travelled to Russia in November of last year to talk about matters such as the supply of petrol and oil. A Russian delegation also visited Pakistan at the start of this year to look over the petrol pipeline project and talk about discounted petroleum products from Russia.
Dr. Musadik Malik said that the government had talked with Russia in detail and in future we will not only receive oil from Russia but also, we are going to provide a good relief to the people of Pakistan.
Dr. Malik reiterated that Pakistan is not an oil-producing nation and must therefore buy oil on the world market when discussing the country’s rising petrol prices. Islamabad consequently has no influence over oil prices, he continued.
According to him they are going to reduce the prices of petrol and oil to make a good relief for people, all of this will happen when Pakistan starts to receive shipment of crude oil from Russia.
The minister also addressed the disparate petrol prices in the nation for the wealthy and the poor, stating that the current administration’s stance is to support the latter. The ministry has been strictly instructed to “divide Pakistan for the rich and the poor” by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif, he continued.
As earlier he said that Pakistan will receive first shipment of crude oil from Russia in the first week of April, however now he is saying that the first shipment of crude oil from the Russia will comes to Pakistan in next month through Cargo service.
This will help us to decide the prices and we will give a good relief in prices. He also clarifies his statement about gas tariff that they are going to create a new tariff which will be different for poor and elite class people of our country.
According to him this relief is only for poor and needy people, and they will get enjoy after this announcement.
