IG Punjab Declares Generous Assistance for Hurt Police Officers

IGP of Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has taken a progressive step by introducing a comprehensive assistance programme for officers who suffer a disability while performing their duties

The package reportedly includes financial assistance for hurt police officers, electric wheelchairs and beds, and assistance in obtaining prosthetic body parts to manage with their impairment.

The amount of money offered has increased from Rs. 1 million to Rs. 2.5 million for those who have been hurt, and to Rs. 10 million for officials who have been rendered totally incapacitated while performing their duties.

Such employees will be given a special role that will pay them till retirement and allow for new hiring to take place for their existing positions.

Additionally, the government will provide improved healthcare options, specialised physiotherapy services, and assistance in securing their recovery at public expense.

The aforementioned instructions were given by the IGP to Constable Muhammad Rizwan, who is still incapacitated after suffering major bullet wounds in a police shootout with robbers in Sheikhupura. The Additional IGP Finance and Welfare has asked the IGP to approve some ideas in this regard.
