Popular stand-up comedian Shakeel Siddiqui recently appeared on the Hafiz Ahmed Podcast. The veteran, who is renowned for his wit and cutting humor, said during the webisode that he didn’t think Pakistan could currently produce a show like The Kapil Sharma Show. Siddiqui is a well-known comedian from Pakistan, but Comedy Circus is where he first gained notoriety in Bollywood.
He collaborated with well-known figures like Urvashi Dholakia, Salman Khan, and Johnny Lever, and as a result, the artist has developed a respectable reputation among comedians.
Thus, taking a gamble, the host asked Siddiqui what his opinion was of stand-up comedy performances in Pakistan. Why don’t we have shows like The Kapil Sharma Show here, he questioned, considering how well-liked it is in his own India.
The Comedy King actor responded, “You would have to locate a Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, or Katrina Kaif here to develop a program like Kapil Sharma. When contacted for interviews, our artists firmly state, “No, we won’t perform.” The difference is that Indian actors consistently appear on the shows to which they are asked and even receive scripts to follow, and they do so.
He continued that they would also need a budget and significant financial investment, even though he always believes that Pakistan is always ahead of India when it comes to humor. Even their audiences can crack jokes about anything and are hilarious. The rise in inflation hasn’t done anything for them other than incite humor in the populace. In India, comedy is imaginatively planned out; scripts are written. Take the Kapil Sharma Show as an example. It has 12–14 writers who are assigned to work on particular show components. Pakistanis, in contrast, merely perform labor-like tasks; believe me, such activities are not permitted here.
Siddiqui claimed that Pakistanis already have too much on their plates before drawing a conclusion. He said that Pakistan already has a lot of problems; the people should just live with them for the time being.
