Two Policemen were Martyred in an Attack on a Census Team in KP

Terrorists target census teams in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, leaving two Policemen martyred and several injured

Terrorists killed two police officers and injured eight others as they attacked census teams in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa districts of Lakki Marwat and Tank on Monday. A spate of attacks in the province has resulted in the loss of lives not only of security forces, but also of innocent citizens, as terrorism once again rears its ugly head.

Unknown motorcycle riders opened fire on a census team inside the boundaries of Sadar Police Station in Lakki Marwat, killing police officer Dil Jaan who was on duty. After firing shots, the attackers left the area.

Similarly, a census team in the Kot Azam neighbourhood of Gomal in Tank came under fire. As a result, policeman Khan Nawab was killed and eight other people were seriously hurt. They were transferred right away to the DHQ hospital for care.

In response to the most recent assault on law enforcement, authorities have started search operations in both areas to capture the attackers. The seventh population and housing census of Pakistan is currently being conducted; it started earlier this month and will end on April 1.

The self-enumeration portal is currently operational, and a few days after it went live, it had received four million clicks on the website. With the aid of electronic devices, the survey’s fieldwork will be carried out by up to 121,000 field enumerators.

According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the information gathered through this process will be used for constituency delineation in upcoming general elections as well as the formulation of public policy.

Unfortunately, a wave of terror attacks has been sweeping Pakistan for the past few months, leaving innocent Pakistanis and law enforcement officials dead. As a result, the nation’s civil and military leadership has made the decision to fight terrorism together.

The National Apex Committee, which is made up of the top military and political figures in the nation, has been looking for national agreement to eradicate militancy. The recent terrorist attacks in the nation’s urban and rural centres have prompted the security forces and law enforcement agencies (LEAs) to step up their efforts to combat them.

This worrying circumstance necessitates an immediate and forceful response. It is unacceptable and should be strongly condemned whenever innocent people are killed or injured, as well as security personnel.

To prevent similar occurrences in the future, the government must take all necessary precautions. To find and capture those responsible for these attacks, Pakistan’s law enforcement and intelligence agencies must cooperate.

Since terrorism has been a persistent problem in Pakistan for many years, it is crucial to keep fighting it together and with vigilance. The government of Pakistan must take all necessary steps to ensure the security of its citizens, and law enforcement agencies must be given the funding they require to do their jobs. Only then will the nation be able to advance and deal with its problems.
