State Bank to Aid in Preventing Dollar Smuggling at the Cargo Area of Karachi Airport

SBP has made the decision to erect a booth in the Civil Aviation Authority’s (CAA) cargo area at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport in order to prevent the smuggling of dollars and other foreign currency.

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has made the decision to erect a booth in the Civil Aviation Authority’s (CAA) cargo area at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport in order to prevent the smuggling of dollars and other foreign currency.

Reports state that building up a booth in the CAA cargo area will also assist exchange companies in exporting foreign currency.

In order to secure space for the booth in the cargo export area of Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, the central bank has also written to CAA. Through this booth, SBP and Customs will work together to thwart currency smuggling and closely supervise exchange companies.

SBP wrote in a letter to CAA, “We urge you to take prompt action on this subject. The operationalization of the SBO-Customs joint Booth at the cargo side of JIAP is vital for the seamless operation of the foreign currency export by exchange companies.
