A choreographer Farah Khan, in the movie “Main Hoon Na” (which was released in 2004) made her directorial debut with Shah Rukh Khan. One of the most memorable characters in “Mai Hoon Na” was Satish Shah’s portrayal of Professor Madhav Rasai.
In a recent interview, the venerable actor revealed that after taking on the role, he started referring to himself as “Spitting Cobra.” As he praised Shah Rukh as a “Very Intelligent Guy” for convincing him to play Professor Rasai in the movie “Main Hoon Na,” he also discussed how they shot the movie’s spitting sequences. In the movie, which also starred Zayed Khan, Amrita Rao, Sunil Shetty, and Sushmita Sen as professor Chandni Chopra, professor Rasai role who was played by Satish Shah, was agitated and regularly spits while talking. In a recent interview, Satish claimed that despite his initial hesitation, Shah Rukh Khan pushed him to accept the position of Professor Rasai. Satish recalled how he initially felt about the position “I asked what type of a part is this [Mai ny kaha kay yeh kya role hai]? He will play the role of the principal, which Boman Irani finally performed.”

Satish said that Shah Rukh is a smart fellow, he told Satish Shah that “You have played many such characters, and anyone can do these roles [Toh Shah Rukh Khan smart hy na, bola ‘Satish bhai aisy role tou ap ny hi kiye hain aur koi bhi kar sakta hy].” According to Shah Rukh Satish Shah should take on the role of Professor Rasai as they can’t conceive of anyone else to portray him.”
When he asked, “Both Shah Rukh and Farah Khan flattered me so much [Farah or Shah Rukh dono nay mil kar mujhy chany ki jhad py charha diya].” He said that is how he accepted the position, although it was not an easy one.
In the same interview, the seasoned actor revealed that he drank water before his performances involving spitting and occasionally spitting so much that the water came out as spray. He said that in the past, he would sip water, hold it in his mouth, and then emphasize certain words or syllables to cause it to spray when he spoke. He used to work so hard on these scenes that we occasionally had to perform retakes because Shah Rukh would start laughing”
