Mr. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has instructed Rs. 50 per liter discount on the fuel price. In a meeting with his federal ministers and special assistants, he addressed a number of issues, including in order to reduce the cost of petrol for bikes, rickshaws, and other low vehicles, targeted subsidies could be granted.
The petroleum subsidy would apply only to low-income consumers who have used motorcycles, rickshaws, or other small vehicles, including those with 800cc engines so the benefits reach to the correct place. The allocation for petroleum subsidies is Rs. 50 per liter and a practical program for petroleum subsidies should be completed as early as possible in order to provide petroleum subsidies in a timely manner to needy people.
The effective implementation of petroleum subsidies is very beneficial for the people. It could only be possible if all the relevant institutions made detailed strategies with their cooperation. Shehbaz Sharif also said that the people who have low incomes and use motorcycles, rickshaws, and small vehicles on a daily basis will get benefits from the petroleum relief package and it helps them directly in their daily routine.
