Meta will launch a monthly subscription service for $11.99 per month

The subscription bundle, which will be available for both Instagram and Facebook, is set to launch later this week with a starting price of $11.99 per month on the web and $14.99 a month

“Meta Verified” is a new subscription service launched by Meta Platforms, formerly known as Facebook. It will allow users to verify their accounts with a government ID and receive a blue badge. In addition to providing extra protection against impersonation, this new service is targeted at content creators and designed to help them grow their communities.

The subscription bundle, which will be available for both Instagram and Facebook, is set to launch later this week with a starting price of $11.99 per month on the web and $14.99 a month on Apple’s iOS system and Android.

The service will first launch in Australia and New Zealand before gradually expanding to other nations. Following Twitter’s recent announcement of “Twitter Blue,” a comparable paid service that will cost $11 per month, this is Meta’s first foray into subscription services.

Additionally, Snapchat and Telegram introduced their own paid subscription services last year, opening up a new revenue stream for them. Many social media platforms are looking into novel ways to monetize their services and offer users benefits outside of traditional advertising as they develop. By offering users a way to stand out and increase their presence on their platform with the Meta Verified subscription, Meta hopes to provide users with new revenue streams.
