Malik Qayyum, a former LHC judge, has passed away

Malik Mohammad Qayyum, a former judge of the Lahore High Court and Pakistan’s former attorney general, passed away on Friday in Lahore

Malik Qayuum was the uncle of MNA Ali Pervaiz Malik and the brother of Pervaiz Malik, a major politician in the PML-N.

After Juma prayers, his funeral prayers will be said in the Jamia Ashrafia Mosque.

Malik Qayyum’s death drew the condolences of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Senior counsel for the Pakistani Supreme Court, Qayyum provided constitutional advice to the courts’ sitting benches. He was in charge of carrying out the investigation into match-fixing known as the “Qayyum Report,” which was praised by the ICC.

Following a scandal over a phone transcript in which he was allegedly contacted for rigging a verdict in a prominent political case, Qayyum resigned from the LHC.
