Imran Urges Supporters to Support the Supreme Court in the Interest of Democracy

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, made a desperate plea to all spheres of society to support the country’s Supreme Court, saying that without it, democracy in the nation is hanging by a thread.

He emphasised that if people in Pakistan want democracy, they must support the Supreme Court and the Pakistani Constitution. Speaking from his home in Zaman Park, Khan claimed that the ruling class had undermined all institutions and fostered animosity both among itself and the Pakistani populace.

Khan issued a warning that if this pattern persists, the country must get ready for nonviolent demonstrations after Eid. Additionally, he said he would lead the demonstrations from the front.

The PTI chairman urged the country’s leaders to act quickly to correct the situation because democracy and the people of Pakistan are in tatters and the economy is already in ruins.

Khan argued that the nation should not be forced to accept the “corrupt” rulers, who are about to be found guilty in the Rs24 billion FIA and NAB cases, by using the excuse that the party leaders and workers were being subjected to torture and excesses.

He regretted that the establishment had allegedly joined forces with the dishonest mafia in order to prevent him from regaining power.

The attack on the judiciary, attempts to thwart elections, decision to stop poll funds, and weakening of institutions, he warned, were all part of the ruling class’ “one-point agenda to keep Imran Khan out of power.”

Khan anticipated that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and the interim Punjab government would start an additional round of arrests of senior PTI officials after the 27th of Ramadan.

He declared that such excesses would no longer be tolerated by the populace and urged the ruling class to keep in mind that when “a nation rises, violent tactics do not work.”

The PTI was becoming more and more popular, he continued, making it difficult for him to choose candidates for party tickets for the Punjab elections from among the numerous candidates running for each seat.

Regarding legal matters, Khan said that the Toshakhana case would turn into a nightmare for Nawaz Sharif, Asif Zardari, and Maryam Nawaz because they had “stolen” luxury vehicles from the state repository despite a ban and the prohibited funding case had reached its logical conclusion.

The former prime minister also tweeted in reference to the magistrate’s decision to defy the Islamabad High Court and hand Ali Amin Gandapur over to the Punjab police. Khan criticised the manner in which Mr. Gandapur was treated under the “Namaloom”‘s orders.

Khan pleaded with everyone to pray for harmony among the Supreme Court’s judges and forewarned that division there would be tragic. He issued a warning that the Constitution must be preserved in order to save the nation.

Khan blasted the “imported government” for avoiding elections and emphasised that this “cabal of crooks” did not care about the Constitution or the law because all they cared about was getting another National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) to save their own skin.

He continued by saying that while dictatorships withered away because there was no space for constructive criticism, democracy grew throughout the world because of freedom of expression. He said that the country had become a banana republic without the rule of law.

Finally, Khan talked about PTI’s flagship Billion Tree Tsunami programme on his Twitter account and posted both old and new images of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region’s Agror area while claiming that Pakistan had never before been greened on such a large scale.
