Imran and Maryam spar on the role of the judiciary

Judiciary and its role remained under discussion by PTI Chairman Imran Khan and PMLN Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz at different forums on Sunday

Imran Khan, a former prime minister, claimed that audiotapes were being released to intimidate the judiciary and his party and urged the Supreme Court (SC) to act right away.

On the other hand, Imran Khan was allegedly being supported by the judiciary, according to PMLN Chief Organizer Maryam Nawaz. She claimed that the nation needs honest judges and not “Imran loyalists” (Imrandaar judges) because they treat all political figures equally.

Imran Khan spoke to the media via video link from Lahore while being flanked by Dr. Yasmin Rashid. He referred to listening in on talks as a breach of fundamental rights. He emphasised the importance of putting the country’s audio tape law into practise by stating: “There is a law in the country addressing the audio-tape.”

Imran Khan claimed that audio leaks were being carried out to exert pressure on the judges and that his party will ask the court to take action. He regretted that those in charge of the whole ordeal had given the assassination attempt on him the appearance of being motivated by religious fundamentalism.

According to the PTI chairman, his party will preserve the integrity of the judiciary at all costs.

The PTI chairman claimed that “the imported administration has been targeting the judiciary to cover the Constitutional violations by them.” He blasted the administration for “making matters worse for individuals by ending public welfare schemes, like the health card service.” He claimed that following record-breaking inflation and the poor confronting dire economic conditions, the rulers are unable to even face the public.

According to Maryam Nawaz, the law adopted an iron fist approach while dealing with Nawaz Sharif, but was liberal when handling corruption cases involving Imran Khan.

Maryam praised the former prime minister’s bravery in the face of political persecution and said that he returned to the nation despite worries of incarceration.

“Whenever there is a crisis in the nation, Nawaz is in demand. He returns to help the nation become self-sufficient, but when another intrepid traveller enters, he is once more driven out,” she said.

If and when Rana Sanaullah Khan decided to arrest Imran Khan, she forewarned him that no one would be able to save him. She claimed that “the man who used to label others thieves turned out to be the largest thief and is hiding in bunkers of Zaman Park like a coward.”
