IG Islamabad reports an F-9 park rape that took place in an unlit area

IG of Islamabad Police, addressed the Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights, chaired by Senator Waleed Iqbal, regarding the tragic rape that occurred at F-9 Park on February 2

The Inspector-General of Islamabad Police, Akbar Nasir Khan, addressed the Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights, chaired by Senator Waleed Iqbal, regarding the tragic rape that occurred at F-9 Park on February 2. Currently, the police have not made any arrests in connection with the incident, as they are awaiting solid evidence. In spite of this, two suspicious individuals were identified at the scene, both of whom were armed.

To address concerns about security in the park, the IG stated that increasing security checks at the entrance would only cause fear among the public. Instead, the police have increased their presence in the park and taken other security measures. According to the Inspector General, the rape took place in a poorly lit area of the park and they will be using cameras from Safe City and other sources in order to investigate the matter. Over a hundred cameras are being installed in the park.

The Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Noorul Amin Mengal, was also present at the meeting. He reported that the F-9 Park encompasses over 750 acres, 500 of which are covered with jungle. In order to increase security in the park, the CDA has increased patrols. The estimated cost for installing solar panels in the parks of Islamabad has been released, with an amount of Rs 100 million allocated.

In Islamabad’s F-9 area, two armed men are alleged to have raped a woman at gunpoint. The case was reported in the media on February 4. As a result of the incident, the nation was left in a state of shock. In the park, the victim was with her male colleague when the attackers separated them at gunpoint by taking them into a thicket nearby.

According to the FIR, the attackers beat the woman when she pleaded with them to let her go and even offered them money in exchange for her safety. The attackers threatened to call their “friends” to join them if she tried to raise her voice. The attackers also prevented the victim from escaping.

As a result, the authorities are working to enhance security measures in the park and investigate the incident. We advise the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the police. The government and law enforcement agencies are committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice and ensuring the safety of the citizens.
