Fawad Chaudhry, Senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was arrested by Islamabad’s Kohsar police from his residence in the early hours of Wednesday morning for allegedly inciting violence against officials of the Election Commission of Pakistan. The Islamabad Police produced Fawad Chaudhry before the Judicial Magistrate in a local Lahore court and requested transitory remand to be transferred to Islamabad. The court granted remand and ordered them to produce them in the concerned court in Islamabad.
The High Court held a hearing on the petition against keeping Fawad Chaudhary in habeas corpus. The court ordered to produce Fawad Chaudhry at half past one. After the break, the hearing is held again. Still, Fawad Choudhary was not produced, on which the court expressed anger and ordered that Fawad Choudhary be produced in the court immediately, wherever he was.
The PTI lawyer said that there are reports that Fawad Chaudhary has been taken to Islamabad. Justice Tariq Saleem Shaikh ordered what I ordered to be executed, and my orders are that Fawad Chaudhary is brought to court.
Additional Advocate General Punjab said that give half an hour, and I will process it now. The court adjourned the hearing till 2 pm. Even though the hearing was held at 2 o’clock, Fawad Chaudhary was not present in the court, on which the court adjourned the hearing till 3 o’clock.
When the hearing resumed at 3 o’clock, Fawad Chaudhry’s lawyers informed the court that the police had taken Fawad Chaudhry to Islamabad, on which the court expressed anger and remarked that even if they had reached Islamabad, bring them back. Additional Advocate General Punjab said a case had been registered when the hearing will be held again. Justice Tariq Saleem Shaikh said I would hear you later, first execute the order.
The court summoned IG Punjab and IG Islamabad and adjourned the hearing till 6 pm.
