Eid Ul Fitr holidays for Bank Employees

Eid Ul Fitr is a religious festival celebrated by Muslim all across the world. According to notification the bank will still remain close from 21 April to 25 April, and it is expected to celebrate first day of Eid on Friday 21 April.

The State Bank has issued a notification stating that all commercial banks will be closed from April 21st to 25th in observance of Eid ul Fitr, the significant Islamic festival celebrated in Muslim-majority countries.

The timing of the festivities depends on the sighting of the new moon by moon-sighting authorities. Previously, the federal government had announced a five-day holiday to allow people to prepare for the joyous occasion that marks the end of the holy month of fasting.

There are reports that the government may extend the Eid holidays to six days instead of the previously approved five days, but no official announcement has been made regarding the extension.

According to Rueet e Hilal instead of Friday Eid ul Fitr is likely to be celebrated on Saturday, 22 April 2023. Mufti mentioned that the birth of the moon is expected to occur on April 20th at 9:13 am local time, and the age of the crescent at sunset is seem like it will be less than ten hours on the time of evening.

Mufti said that the weather is expected to be clear in most areas of Pakistan, with very slim chances of a moon sighting on the eve of April 20th. It is anticipated that Pakistan will observe 30 days of fasting this year.

Eid ul Fitr is one of the two major Islamic festivals that mark the culmination of the Holy Month of Ramadan, during which Muslims all over the world observe fasting and engage in prayers.
