Recently, Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain and his son, Moosa Elahi, both leaders of Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q), have been charged with attempted murder. Muhammad Ali, a leader of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), filed the complaint at the Karianwala police station in Gujrat.
The First Information Report (FIR) alleges that 11 individuals, including Wajahat and Elahi, attempted to murder Muhammad Ali on January 23.
A leaked audio recording of PML-Q leaders plotting to kidnap a female legislator has already resulted in terrorism charges being brought against them. As heard in the audio, they threatened the lawmakers and forced them to conceal themselves.
According to the complaint, after the leak, the duo appeared in Kotla Arab Ali Khan with 25 armed men and terrorized residents at gunpoint while assaulting several locals and threatening to kidnap and kill elders. Before fleeing the scene, the armed men shot the elders.
A change in leadership has taken place in the PML-Q, with Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain being replaced as party chief by Wajahat Hussain.
Several people protested against a police raid on Parvez Elahi’s residence in Gujrat on Wednesday. On February 1st, the Punjab Police conducted a raid in an attempt to arrest Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain.
PML-Q Punjab President Khadija Umar Farooqui led the rally, which began at the Muslim League House and ended at the Press Club on Davis Road. According to Umar, the raid was politically motivated and that the Supreme Court should take notice of the situation.
As a whole, the charges against PML-Q leaders have caused controversy and raised questions about Pakistan’s political stability and direction.
