After false information about rising passport fees spread widely on social media, a lot of individuals started rushing the offices, prompting the decision.
For individuals who have already paid their passport fees online or in person, the passport offices of the Central Punjab Zone, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zone, Sindh Zone, North Punjab/Azad Kashmir/Gilgit Baltistan Zone, Balochistan Zone, South Punjab Zone, and Headquarters Zone-specific regional offices will be open from 8 am to 2 pm.
Khalid Memon, the director of immigration and passports for Sindh, has confirmed that 13 passport offices, including those in Karachi, Larkana, Hyderabad, Sanghar, and other cities, will be open on Saturday.
According to the Federal Interior Ministry, there has been no rise in the charge for machine-readable passports, despite rumours to the contrary. The cost of e-passports has recently been reduced by the Immigration and Passport Department, whereas the cost of traditional passports has not changed.
