An attack by a group of 15 to 20 armed militants on the Makarwal Police Station in Mianwali, Punjab, was successfully repelled. The incident did not result in any injuries to officers, but several attackers are believed to have been injured during the exchange of fire.
In just a few days prior to this attack, a mosque in Peshawar was bombed, resulting in the death of over 100 people. Multan and Sargodha districts have increased security measures in response to the attack on the police station.
As caretaker chief minister, Mohsin Naqvi praised the police officers for their bravery in repelling the attack. He called the officers “heroes” and expressed his pride in their actions. As well as recognizing the efforts of the station house officer and his team for their successful defense against the militant attack, the Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, praised the efforts of their team.
