Users of WhatsApp may recognise members of the groups they are using on the messaging app thanks to the functionality, which allows them to view profile images within group chats.
According to the WhatsApp news tracker website, the feature is now available to some beta testers on WhatsApp Desktop as well after the version upgrade for iOS users who have loaded the WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.23.0.70.
When the feature is turned on, the group conversations will appear as seen in the screenshot above. The conversation bubbles will be shown next to the profile icons.
However, it should be noted that the privacy settings of the users will determine whether the profile images are accessible or not. If a user’s profile photo is missing or hidden, a default profile icon with the same colour tint as the contact name will appear instead.
In the future, the capability will be made available to Android users.
