An important milestone in the nation’s automotive industry was reached on Monday when Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was presented with the keys to the nation’s first-ever domestically produced electric vehicle.
At a special ceremony held at the Presidential Complex in Ankara, the eagerly anticipated Togg EV model T10X, a fully electric C-segment SUV, was presented to the President. The first lady, Emine Erdoan, was also present.
The car’s name, “Anadolu,” which embodies the sincerity and fervor of Anatolian lands, is painted on it in a striking shade of red.
“Today, we are witnessing together the realisation of the 60-year dream of our nation,” said President Erdogan. Erdogan will also receive the T10X, the second electric vehicle produced by the Turkish automaker Togg, for official use.
The colour of this car is called Gemlik, after the azure waters in the neighbourhood where the Togg campus is located and are shaded by olive trees.
After receiving over 177,400 pre-orders for the first batch of T10Xs in just 21 days, Togg decided to increase production from 12,000 to 20,000 units. Togg conducted a digital draw to choose the first batch’s purchasers, and deliveries are anticipated to begin soon.
“Togg was created as a representation of the technological advancement, burgeoning economy, and international standing of our nation. Togg will be visible on the roads starting today, according to President Erdogan.
Azerbaijan’s president, Ilham Aliyev, who is Erdogan’s counterpart, will receive the second vehicle. President Erdogan had given the president of Azerbaijan an order before the Togg EV prototype was unveiled in December 2019.
President Erdogan worked hard to manufacture Turkey’s first national car, and his efforts led to the creation of the Togg EV.
This historic occasion heralds the start of a new era for Turkey’s auto industry and represents a significant advancement towards a greener and more sustainable future.
