Competitors in the Global Issues Problem Solving (GIPS) competition will address potential issues on the year’s topic of antibiotic resistance. To be ready for competitive events where a futuristic scenario will be examined and addressed, these teams and individuals must conduct thorough research on all facets of antibiotic resistance.
The event has taken place virtually for the last two years. FPS will have its first hybrid international conference this year. Some participants will physically visit the University of Massachusetts Amherst campus, while others will participate electronically. No matter where they are, these young leaders are prepared to take on the world’s most difficult issues because to their zeal and ingenuity. “Our children’ capacity for problem-solving serves as a paradigm for the optimism and tenacity of our future. We are incredibly proud of the year’s worth of work put in by these students, their coaches, and their parents. The people who solve problems today will be the ones to bring about change for a better tomorrow!
Incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit in 1974, FPSPI has developed into a global academic initiative that pushes students to think creatively and strategically. Future Problem Solving Program International has been working for 47 years to assist kids in developing the critical and creative thinking abilities they will need to address problems in the real world and use those abilities to identify answers that may result in good change. The initiative also reaches kids involved non-competitively in classrooms or after-school activities that employ materials to enhance education through critical and creative thinking. Over 15,000 students formally participated in 2020–21, and hundreds of thousands participate every year.
