Pakistan Gets Removed From The UK’s List Of “High-Risk Countries”

Through a legislative instrument, the UK has officially removed Pakistan from its list of “high-risk third countries,” signalling that the country has achieved sufficient progress to be taken off the FATF’s “grey list.”

This development was noted by a statement from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office on Monday, which stated that the UK acknowledges Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen limits on money laundering and terrorism financing.

On Twitter, the foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari greeted the event as “excellent news.”

The list includes those countries that the UK deems pose risks due to unsatisfactory money laundering and terror financing controls.
