According to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the local government’s elections in Hyderabad and Karachi have been continuously postponed.
He should recall that while Jamaat-e-Islami prayed for the LG elections to take place in Hyderabad and Karachi on January 15, MQM-P and the Sindh administration sought a postponement in the elections, alleging a delimitation issue.
After hearing the arguments of the MQM-P and other parties, a three-member ECP bench led by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja reserved the decision. The CEC eliminated the provincial government’s right to defend itself after its attorney appeared in court without studying the case.
The Jamaat-e-Islami petitioned the Pakistan Election Commission to carry out its constitutional duty and hold the local government elections in Hyderabad and Karachi on time.
