CP Files Intra-court Appeal Against IHC’S Verdict On Islamabad Local Bodies Elections

IHC decision to hold the Local bodies elections in the federal capital on December 31 has been appealed internally by Pakistan’s highest electoral authority

The Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) decision to hold the Local bodies elections in the federal capital on December 31 has been appealed internally by Pakistan’s highest electoral authority (today).

Jamat-e-Islami, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and its leaders have been declared respondents in the case by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The event occurs as a result of an order from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) directing ECP to hold local body elections in the nation’s federal capital today.

After receiving directions from Justice Arbab, ECP had an emergency meeting on Friday and announced that the polls could not be held since the polling personnel was away for the winter.

Rana Sanaullah, the interior minister, recently stated that although they acknowledged the IHC’s decision, the elections will not be held for another four months.
