Bidens Home Search Uncovered More Classified Items

US Justice Department searched Biden’s home in Wilmington, Delaware on Friday and found six more items, including classified documents.

In a statement issued Saturday night, the president’s attorney said the US Justice Department searched President Joe Biden’s Wilmington, Delaware home on Friday and found six more items, including classified documents.

Biden’s attorney, Bob Bauer stated that during Biden’s time as Delaware senator from 1973 to 2009, some of the classified documents and “surrounding materials” date from his Senate career. Additionally, Bauer said, there were documents related to his time as vice president during the Obama administration between 2009 and 2017.

According to an attorney for the Department of Justice, the search lasted more than 12 hours and included the seizure of handwritten notes from Vice President Biden.

The president allowed the DOJ to search his residence for potential vice-presidential records and classified materials, according to Bauer.

Biden and his wife were not present during the search, according to the attorney. He is in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Biden’s attorneys were consulted prior to the search, and the president’s personal and White House attorneys were present, Bauer said.

After Biden left the Obama administration in 2017 as vice president, classified government documents were discovered at his Wilmington D.C. residence and in November at a think tank where he worked.

According to Bauer’s Saturday statement, the documents were located somewhere in the Wilmington residence. The previous classified documents were discovered in the garage and nearby storage area of the residence.

Biden’s possession of the classified documents is rapidly being investigated by federal investigators. US Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed an independent counsel to investigate the matter this month.

Biden recently discovered classified documents from the Obama administration in the private possession of Robert Hur, the special counsel appointed during the process.

Biden’s lawyers located all documents discovered before Friday’s DOJ search, according to the White House. The latest search was the first time federal law enforcement authorities searched Biden’s private addresses for government documents.

Former President Donald Trump is being investigated over his handling of classified documents following his term in office. Republicans have compared the investigation to that investigation. According to the White House, Biden’s team cooperated with investigators and provided requested documents. After an FBI search of Trump’s Florida resort in August, he resisted.

According to Biden, he has no regrets about not disclosing the discovery of classified documents at his former office prior to the midterm elections.

Biden told reporters during a California visit on Thursday, “There is no there, there.”

Trump has complained since the discovery of Biden’s documents that Justice Department investigators are treating his successor differently.

Will the FBI conduct a search of Joe Biden’s multiple residences, including the White House? Earlier this month, Trump posted on social media.
