FIFA has made the decision to request that all nations rename a football stadium in honour of the late Brazilian legend Pele.

The 82-year-old Brazilian great lost his battle with cancer. The football star is regarded as the best of all time by many. The only player in history to play for three World Cup winning teams was Pele.

Gianni Infantino, the head of FIFA, said to the media that FIFA has chosen to urge each nation to name a stadium for Pele as a tribute to the iconic footballer. The performance will be in remembrance of the illustrious football player.

Standing in front of the ancient Vila Belmiro stadium, where Pele played his debut game for his team, Santos, Gianni Infantino declared, “We are going to ask every country in the world to name one of their football stadiums after Pele.” Gianni Infantino further acknowledged Pele’s magnificence by saying, “Pele is everlasting. He is a football icon around the world.

Gianni Infantino, the head of FIFA, travelled to Brazil to say his final goodbyes to Pele before his funeral.
