The crackdown was initiated as a result of the POL product shortage that occurred in various province-wide cities. The fuel that was seized is estimated to be worth 630 million rupees.
In Sheikhupura, Kasur, Gujrat, Muzaffargarh, and other places, police teams raided a number of filling stations and storage depots and seized oil tankers.

Despite the Minister of State for Petroleum Musadik Malik’s extravagant remarks, who earlier denied any scarcity of petroleum products in the nation, there is still a deficit. In a news conference on Wednesday, he stated that Pakistan has an adequate supply of gasoline and diesel.
Mr. Malik warned the hoarders that the government would revoke their licences if they were discovered to be complicit in creating a false shortage.
He debunked the notion that the government was abruptly raising petroleum product prices. The minister claimed that measures were being taken by the government to strengthen the nation’s economy.
In the meantime, the district administration will work together with the Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, to crack down on large depots and organisations that are illegally hoarding gasoline around the province.
He issued a statement in which he instructed RPOs and DPOs to ensure action under personal supervision against all petrol stations and agencies that are illegally hoarding and to bring to justice those who put the public through hardship and anguish by inducing a fake scarcity of gasoline.
The IG ordered that huge depot owners who are illegally hoarding gasoline should face indiscriminate punishment, and that their reports should also be provided on a regular basis to the CPO office.
Anwar stated that depot owners engaged in the illegal hoarding industry do not deserve any leniency and that swift, severe action should be taken against them.
