OGRA has increased the gas price from 16% to 113% after the government hiked the prices of petroleum products. The contains the followings points:
Domestic consumers consuming 25 cubic meters of gas per month were exempted from the increase.
The gas tariff of two categories of protected domestic consumers has been reduced by 16 and 33 per cent.
The new gas prices notified by OGRA will be effective from January 1 to June 30, 2023.
Domestic consumers have been divided into protected and non-protected categories.
The announcement said that 4 slabs of protected categories had been created. The protected category includes consumers of 25 cubic meters per month, while consumers of 50 cubic meters, 60 cubic meters and 90 cubic meters per month are also included in the protected category.
Gas has been increased by 16 to 113 per cent for various sectors, including domestic consumers.
The increase has been made on the advice of the Petroleum Division, and the domestic consumers have been divided into 12 categories of protected and non-protected. The fixed charge has been increased by Rs 50 for protected customers and Rs 500 for non-protected customers.
Domestic consumers consuming 25 cubic meters of gas per month have been exempted, while the gas tariff of 2 categories of protected domestic consumers has been reduced by 16 and 33%. Tariffs for other domestic consumers have been increased from 25 to 113 per cent.
The price of gas for commercial consumers has increased by 28.6%, the new price has become 1650 rupees, while the price of gas for the power sector has increased by 22.8%, the new price has become 1050 rupees, while gas for industries is 34% more expensive.
The new price has become 1100 rupees for the CNG sector. After the 31% increase in gas, the new price has become 1800 rupees. Similarly, the fertilizer price has increased by 46%, and the new price has become 1500 rupees. Gas for the cement sector is 17.46% more expensive, and the new price has become Rs.1500.
