During a visit to the Turkish city of Adiyaman, one of the badly affected areas in the powerful earthquake on February 9 that has left the country reeling with its effects, the premier demonstrated his commitment to the disaster-stricken nation by handing over relief goods to the affected population, mostly winterized tents. The earthquake has left Turkey with over 36,000 casualties.
The Pakistan Air Force used a special aircraft to fly the relief supplies to Adiyaman (PAF).
The Pakistani nation’s sympathy were expressed by the prime minister to the earthquake victims who lost their families during his interactions with them.
On this occasion, PM Shehbaz informed the Turkish government and the victims that Pakistan will provide the friendly nation with all the assistance it might possibly need.
He referred to Turkey as Pakistan’s friend and brotherly nation and expressed his hope that it would persevere through its difficult times.
He also got to know the Pakistani rescue crews that took part in the hunt.
The prime minister was welcomed earlier by Mehmet Mus, the minister of trade for Turkey, Adil Ismailoglu, the minister of communication, Mahmut Cuhadar, the governor of Adiyaman, and Ali Shaheen, the head of the Turk-Pakistan Friendship Group in the Turkish parliament.
In a unique show of support for the Turkish people, the prime minister began a two-day visit to the capital city of Turkey, Ankara, on Thursday.
Additionally, the federal cabinet resolved to deliver 20,000 quilts to earthquake victims and ordered the finance department to allocate Rs50 million for the project.
After the devastating earthquake, Pakistan mobilised aid for both Turkey and Syria. To help with the relief efforts, the nation deployed an 85-member urban search and rescue team, a 10-member search and rescue team, and a 10-member medical team.
