Prisons would be filled with more than workers and former Punjab governor Umer Sarfraz Cheema, Senator Waleed Iqbal, Murad Raas, and other party officials during the initial stages of the movement.
Imran Khan, the ousted prime minister, declared a court arrest movement in an effort to rally the populace in the face of the crackdown and pressure the ruling coalition to call elections.
In Lahore, where the local government implemented section 144, party activists of the former ruling party would strike important thoroughfares. Prior to the movement, PTI’s social media activists were still actively recruiting people to join the campaign.
On social media, Khan himself sent a message encouraging activists to cram prisons, which he compared to destroying the gods of fear.
The leaders of defiance are expected to swarm to The Mall, where Section 144 is put into effect. If law enforcement officials did not arrest them, PTI also announced a sit-in at Charing Cross.
The movement will gain support in the next days from activists in cities such as Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Multan, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Sahiwal, and Faisalabad.
Rana Sanaullah, the interior minister, claimed that Imran and his allies are using the recent crisis as a gimmick and that PTI’s “Jail Bharo Tehreek” is just another attempt to cause political instability.
