Dr. Amir Khalil examined the elephant and found that she was in severe discomfort from her joints.
Thousands of people are asking that the Zoo and government officials check into the situation and ensure the health and safety of the animal after hearing the horrifying news about the ill and immature elephant in the Karachi Zoo. The elephant, Noor Jehan, recently fell into a concrete pool at the zoo, which made matters worse and significantly deteriorated his health.
Before she fell into the pool, the 17-year-old elephant was already receiving treatment from a team of international specialists for her half-paralyzed body as a result of a hind limb injury and was making a quick recovery. On the footage from the JFK Animal and Rescue Shelter, Noor Jehan was described as being “badly injured and lifeless.” The Zoo administration also disregarded Four Paws’ recommendations to calm and feed Noor Jehn.
Outrage at the inefficiency and negligence of the authorities was prompted by the condition of the poor animal. Numerous social media users, including Pakistani celebrities, expressed their sadness after learning about Noor Jehan’s suffering.
Natasha Baig, a singer, said in an Instagram Story, “I regret to say this, but I think Noor Jehan can only find peace when she dies. She lamented the fact that Pakistan is genuinely unable to show compassion for animals. This is very sad.
Actress Ayesha Omar inquired, “Is there any way we can assist.” In order to learn more and spread the news, Omar also tagged the Ayesha Chundrigar Foundation (ACF) in the Instagram Story.
Another depressing footage of Noor Jehan laying motionless on the ground was posted by actor Zhalay Sarhadi. She cried out, “Heartbreaking!” and requested assistance for the elephant.
Simi Rahael, a respected actress, prayed for the sick elephant as well. She said that she wonders how this girl is doing. She expressed her desire to have Noor Jahan’s health and recovery in her prayers.
The brutality, the melancholy, the complete disregard! Shame on people for causing this suffering says the actress from Sabaat.
Furthermore, Yashma Gill shouted, “Please, for the sake of this holy month, join hands in this cause and help in boycotting this zoo culture.” She wrote, “Keep praying people, she is now reacting a little in another post. Alhamdulillah.”
Yashma Gill’s post was also shared by Ushna Shah.
In 2021, FOUR PAWS proposed that Noor Jehan and Madhubala be transferred to a location suitable for their species. Noor Jehan will be relocated as soon as she is in a fit state of health, according to the authorities.
