The Gwadar Airport is Scheduled to Open Soon

Gwadar International Airport Set to Open Later This Month, Boosting Investment Opportunities

Gwadar International Airport, located in Gurandani, 26 km east of the coastal city of Gwadar, is scheduled to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif later this month.

The airport, built at a cost of $230 million, was financed by the Chinese government’s grant under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project. Its construction provided employment opportunities for 3,000 workers.

The airport has passed the Civil Aviation Authority’s (CAA) safety inspection, and it has been deemed clear and ready for flight operations. On Pakistan Day, which falls on March 23, the government is likely to begin flight operations. The airport is anticipated to draw both domestic and international investors and accelerate regional economic growth.

ATR 72, Airbus (A-300), Boeing (B-737), and Boeing (B-747) aircraft can all be accommodated at the airport, which is a highly anticipated facility for both domestic and international travel. According to the CPEC website, work on the airport and its supporting facilities started on October 31, 2019, with a target completion date of March 2023.

Today’s review meeting on the “Test flight at the new Gwadar International Airport” was presided over by Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal. The CAA Complex, landslide infrastructure, cargo building, Airports Security Force (ASF) Camp for 1,050 personnel, and 132kV grid station were all discussed at the meeting.

The federal minister gave CAA instructions to complete all airport development projects before September 2023 and to present a plan of action for the execution and implementation of the remaining tasks within three days.

.It is anticipated that the Gwadar port, which recently started operating with dredging operations and the shipment of wheat, will further accelerate economic growth in the area. In a press conference held last month, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasised the potential of the Gwadar port and its importance to the growth of the area.

An important step in Pakistan’s efforts to draw in foreign investment and foster regional economic growth is the opening of the Gwadar International Airport. The airport is anticipated to develop into a hub for both domestic and international flights after a number of development projects are finished, connecting the area to important economic hubs around the globe.
