Travel advice has been issued for Murree as visitors swarm the hill station to enjoy the snowfall

The local administration has encouraged visitors to take precautions while travelling to the country’s most popular hill station Murree and other high places.

As periods of sporadic snowfall and rain continued while tourists from around Pakistan began travelling to the hilly areas to appreciate nature, roads from Murree to Abbottabad were shut down.

The local government is taking preventative precautions to avoid a repeat of what happened in January of last year, when almost two dozen tourists died from exposure in their cars after becoming stopped on the road in a severe snowstorm.

Snow camps and more law enforcement officers were also deployed in the mountain resort city to assist holidaymakers. Additionally, snow-clearing equipment was in use.

Several areas of the nation, including the federal capital Islamabad, the Pothohar region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan are expected to experience rain, wind, and thunderstorms during the course of the next 12 hours, according to the Met Office. During this time, isolated snowfall is possible in hill stations.
