Shahid Afridi Spoke About The Change In The Team

Yesterday, former star performer and recently retired chief selector Shahid Afridi spoke about the vice-captain selection of the Pakistan team. Shan Masood was appointed as vice-captain. He said that he was not even consulted about it. He added that Babar was also in the complete dark about selecting the vice-captain appointment. He expressed his thoughts with these words,

“Shan Masood shouldn’t have been announced as the vice-captain. Shan wasn’t in the captain’s XI for the first 2 ODIs, nor was he in my XI. Performances are important. You can’t appoint a captain or vice-captain on the basis of performances for Derbyshire. He had also not played many ODIs for Pakistan, and there were senior players around, like Rizwan and Shadab. If you bring in someone who hasn’t performed or played a lot and make him the vice-captain, it affects the senior players who are playing.”

Former vice-captain Shadab Khan was out of the team due to a fractured finger. After that, Shaan Masood was appointed as his replacement. This created a backlash on social media; everyone talked about his appointment in the presence of senior players, i.e., Muhammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, and Imam-ul-Haq. They were also shocked that he was not even the part playing elven in the last 2 matches.
