Major General (Retd) Amir Azeem Bajwa, the chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), stepped down on Wednesday after serving his full term.

The PTA chairman reportedly notified the authorities that he would be stepping down. He also expressed his gratitude to the authority’s officers for their cooperation over the years. As you may remember, Bajwa began serving in January 2019. On January 2, 2023, his four-year term as chairman came to an end.

The chairman of the cabinet division had verbally requested that he stay on until January 21, 2023, but he refused. The process for choosing the next chairman has already been started by the cabinet division.

The federal government had decided against extending Major General (Retd) Amir Azeem Bajwa’s term as PTA chairman. The tenure was to be extended by 4 years, according to a summary from the cabinet division.
