PBC’s Role in Fostering Qawwali Singing is Praised

Renowned Qawwals Rizwan Ali Khan and Muazzam Ali Khan have stated that throughout the past 70 years, Radio Pakistan has played a major role in promoting Qawwali singing.

Speaking to Radio Pakistan, they remarked that Sufi music has a long record on the subcontinent and that their purpose is to teach the next generation about the essence of Sufi music.

They said that Qawali serves as a potent vehicle for the presentation of Pakistan's rich cultural history, which is centered on Sufi poetry.

They said that Sufi music has already undergone a number of modifications in an effort to amuse young people through improvisation. They felt that it was a matter of great honor for them to have a connection to Sufi music.

Being the sons of famed Qawal Mujahid Moazzam Ali Khan and the nephews of Qawal Maestro Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, they claimed to be members of the renowned "Qawwal Bacha" Gharana of Qawwali singing. They added that they have been giving pair performances at national and international gatherings since 1990.
