The Men in Green were unable to qualify for the 2023 Hockey World Cup, adding to Pakistan’s hockey problems. Pakistan, which is now rated 17th in the world, was eliminated from the mega-event following a poor performance in the Asia Cup.

Khawaja Junaid, a former hockey player from Pakistan, criticised the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) when his nation was disqualified from the 2023 Men’s Hockey World Cup.

He remarked, “It is truly regrettable that a country like Pakistan is not part of the 16-team World Cup,” after Pakistan failed to place among the top four in the Asia Cup.

Khawaja continued by saying that the national team had a straightforward chance to be in the top four and earn a spot in the big tournament, but they squandered it.

The former athlete continued by expressing his disappointment that the Men in Green will not be participating in the World Cup in India as a former champion.

It is important to note that the 15th Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup in 2023 will be held in India from January 13 to January 29. The four-time world champions, on the other hand, won’t be taking part in the massive event because they didn’t place among the top four in the Asia Cup.

It’s also important to note that the Hockey World Cup will feature sixteen nations for the first time; previously, only 12 nations could participate.
