Indian women’s team won the match against the West Indies team

In the tri-nation series, India won the match by 8 wickets against West Indies. Indin women were on the target when 37 balls were remaining. The player of the match award was given to Deepti Sharma.

Yesterday, the 6th match of the tri-nation women’s series was played. Buffalo Park, East London, hosted it. India won the toss and opted to bowl first.

While batting first, team West Inidies set a target of 95 in due 20 overs, losing 6 wickets. The top scorer was captain Hayley Matthews. She scored 34 runs with the help of 5 fours. The other top players were Zaida James and Shabika Gajnabi. Both of these are also only the rest of the double figure scorers. They played an inning of 21 and 12 runs. Deepti Sharma proved to be a sensational bowler. She bagged 3 wickets against 11 runs.

While chasing, team India was on the final shot with eight wickets. Although it seemed earlier that there might be some difficulty, when Smriti Mandhana was back at 8 teams cumulative, India made it impossible as there was only another loss at 41 runs. Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur scored 42 and 32 runs, leading India to reach the total easily. Shamilia Connell and Hayley Matthews bagged one wicket each.

The final match of the series will be played at Buffalo Park, East London, between South Africa and India on February 02.
