The audience will be transported to the 1952–1962 football period by Maidaan. Syed Abdul Rahim was the Indian football team’s manager and coach at the time, and he helped the nation qualify for the Olympics twice. Despite several challenges, the squad gave it their all.

Gajraj Rao, Priyamani, and Bengali actor Rudranil Ghosh are also cast in Ajay’s movie. The sports drama is produced by Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla, and Arunava Joy with funding from Zee Studios, and it is directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma. The soundtrack to the movie is composed by AR Rahman.
Due to a few problems, Maidaan has been in the works for the previous two years but hasn’t yet entered floors. Nevertheless, according to reports, the producers have ultimately chosen to release it on June 23, 2023.
