Imran Khan Will Run For All 33 Open National Assembly Seats In By-elections

Imran Khan has chosen to run in by-elections for all 33 National Assembly seats that became empty after the PTI legislators resigned

In an unexpected move by the erstwhile ruling party, deposed prime minister Imran Khan has chosen to run in by-elections for all 33 National Assembly seats that became empty after the PTI legislators resigned.

Fawad Chaudhry said on Twitter that Imran Khan will represent Tehreek-e-Insaf in the by-elections for thirty-three seats, which was verified by a number of PTI leaders.

The populist leader will be the party’s candidate in each of these constituencies, PTI Secretary General Asad Umar added, calling it a symbolic election.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, which is considering the possibility of putting Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to the test through a trust vote bid, accepted the resignations of its legislators on Tuesday. Raja Pervez Ashraf is the speaker of the National Assembly.

After the speaker accepted their resignations, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) denotified a number of key members of the PTI, including Murad Saeed, Omar Ayub Khan, Asad Umar, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Hammad Azhar, Shafqat Mehmood, Asad Qaiser, and Ali Zaidi.
