Fawad Khan: Pakistani Film Industry Unfairly Compared to Global Standards

The star of The Legend of Maula Jatt Fawad Khan emphasized that the nation requires more digital and internet channels. He believes that it is not fair to compare the Pakistani film industry.

This Eid-ul-Fitr, actor Fawad Khan’s forthcoming movie Moneyback Guarantee will be shown at the theatres closest to you. The star of The Legend of Maula Jatt offered his opinion on the state and prospects of Pakistani cinema during the promotion of the movie in an interview with Independent Urdu.

He said that everyone [who belongs to the film industry] wants the industry to grow, to have more employment opportunities, and an increase in revenue. Everyone ought to gain from the expansion of the industry, earn money, and earn excellent money.

He said, “It’s better if we do not compare ourselves with the world right now since our opportunities are very limited,” to a query comparing the development of the Pakistani film industry on a global scale.

He projected that it would be unfair to compare a film with a budget of 15 to 20 crores to one with a $500 or $400 million budget. Even when we talk about the next-door country of India, they have budgets of 300, 400, or 500 crores.

He continued that the key is to invest only after you receive a return from the market. He thus thinks that the cycle has already started. The business would grow on its own as this wheel turns, increasing profits and film investment, he said.

The phrase “Oh, we want to watch it now that this film is bigger than the last which was bigger than the one before it” will become more common, he continued.

Making a comparison at this time would be unfair. The actor voiced hope and optimism for the nation’s film industry. But I think the market for movies will expand given our limited resources, what we have accomplished thus far, and the progress we are making.

In response to his own experience working in Hollywood for Disney+’s Ms. Marvel and Bollywood for movies like Khoobsurat, Kapoor & Sons, and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, the actor said, “We all have worked abroad, we should work there and here too, but working there is a must to market a local product and develop an industry, that’s okay.”

Do, however, good job. He would hear comments from others like he is saying all this, but he doesn’t do that much work. But first, the level of labor should be raised. We ought to create our unique identity, he remarked.

In the same way that he described Maula Jatt, doing it in Punjabi was a really special type of thing. With the way the tale was changed, the movie stood out from the other varied films that are being released, the Humsafar actor emphasized.

He predicted that more performers will be attracted to take part in such novel endeavors as they will work harder on local content. According to Fawad Khan, the country needs internet streaming services. He declared that digital platforms should be online too.

Fawad Khan claimed that at the end of the day, everyone wants to make money, so they go to every platform where they are getting work from. Fawad, however, believes that if this prospect materializes, there would be a very significant—indeed, a heavy amount of money to be gained from it. Reduce “free viewing,” albeit he is not only referring to piracy. He is arguing that whether they are producing TV dramas or movies, you should take what is owed to you and what you deserve. And the ex-pat community must back that up.
