DI Khan Policeman Martyred in Attack on Census Team

Terrorist attack in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province leaves one police officer dead and four injured

A police officer was killed and four others injured in a recent terrorist attack in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. A census team in the district of Dera Ismail Khan was targeted in this attack.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Yaqoob Zulqarnain claims that the attackers fled after making the police mobile van their target. The injured police officers were transported right away to the District Headquarters Hospital for medical attention, where one of them tragically passed away.

Constable Gul Faraz, an officer who was killed in the line of duty, and ASI Hayatullah, Constable Aftab, Constable Mohammad Naeem, as well as the driver Sabir, were both identified by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police. Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a terrorist organisation, claimed responsibility for the assault.

The nation’s law and order situation has gotten worse as a result of the recent increase in terrorist attacks. Attacks by terrorist organisations have been carried out across the nation almost without consequence.

The militant group has increased its attacks since the November breakdown of negotiations with the TTP, focusing in particular on the police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and areas bordering Afghanistan. Balochistan’s insurgents have also intensified their violent operations and established a formal connection with the TTP.

One of the deadliest months since July 2018 was January 2023, according to statistics released by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, an organisation with offices in Islamabad. The attacks led to at least 44 militant attacks across the nation, resulting in at least 134 fatalities—a 139% increase—and 254 injuries.

The Pakistani government needs to act right away to safeguard the safety and security of its citizens and stop similar attacks from happening again. Additionally, the tools and supplies the security forces need to successfully fend off these dangers should be made available to them.

In this war on terrorism, Pakistan should have the support and solidarity of the entire world. In the face of such heinous crimes, we must unite and work to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
