Departmental Cricket Is Restored By The New PCB Regime

The PCB Management Committee’s Chair, Mr. Najam Sethi, formally approved notifications for the reinstatement of District/Zonal Cricket Associations

Departmen’t Restored by New PCB Regime On Monday, the PCB Management Committee’s Chair, Mr. Najam Sethi, formally approved notifications for the reinstatement of District/Zonal Cricket Associations, Regions, and Departments/Services Organizations under the 2014 PCB Constitution.

Following the publication of the notification, the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy will now feature 16 Regional Cricket Associations, while the Patron’s Trophy will feature 8 departments during the 2023–24 season, which will start in August.

During the domestic cricket season of 2023–24, in addition to these competitions, Grade–II, 50–over, and 20–over events will be planned for the regional and departmental sides. Information on these competitions will be released in due course.

In the PCB Constitution 2019, which was dissolved in December 2022, the Departments/Services Organization, Regions, and District/Zonal Cricket Associations were replaced by the six Cricket and 90 City Cricket Associations.

“I’m happy to certify the official reinstatement of Departments/Services Organization, Regions, and District/Zonal Cricket Associations under the 2014 PCB Constitution,” said Mr. Najam Sethi.

The standards, performances, and rankings of our national teams in the international arena were negatively impacted by this approach, which not only negatively impacted the livelihood of hundreds of cricket players and caused a talent drain but also failed to identify and produce cricketers with exceptional skills as in the past.

“Although the bad practises of the previous four seasons are irreversible, we can rapidly return to our tried-and-true cricket model and structure so that the game and cricketers can prosper. More announcements that are beneficial for Pakistan cricket and our players will be announced in due course as we are making good progress in this area.
