Customs Values On Imported Paper Are Updated By FBR

For the import of uncoated offset Paper of Customs Valuation in Karachi has amended the customs values.

For the import of uncoated offset paper for writing, printing, and photocopying from Australia, Brazil, China, Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, Thailand, and Russia, the Directorate General of Customs Valuation in Karachi has amended the customs values.

In this regard, the directorate on Monday issued a valuation decision. The directorate has also updated the customs values for imported sheets of branded self-adhesive sticker paper from China, Indonesia, Australia, Brazel, Singapore, Japan, Russia, and Thailand through a separate ruling.

In accordance with the third valuation ruling, the importation of non-Carbon Releasing Paper, Art Card/Coated Board/Paper, and Light Weight Coated Papers from China, Indonesia, Korea, Japan, and Europe now has revised customs values.

According to decision 1716 of 2022, valuation ruling number 1532/2021 was used to establish the customs values of uncoated offset paper for writing, printing, and photocopy under Section 25A of the Customs Act, 1969. However, a number of stakeholders asked that the values set by Customs be updated to reflect those found on the global market. This Directorate has therefore conducted an exercise to ascertain the same.

The Directorate undertook a market assessment, and several wholesale and retail marketplaces were visited to observe the actual pricing of Uncoated Offset Paper for Writing, in accordance with the statutory sequential order of Section 25 of the Customs Act, 1969.

According to Valuation Ruling No. I533/2021, dated May 27, 2021, the Customs values of Self-Adhesive Sticker Paper in Sheets were established in accordance with Section 25A of the Customs Act, 1969.

However, a number of stakeholders asked that the values set by Customs be updated to reflect those found on the global market. The values of self-adhesive sticker paper in sheets have been established in accordance with the data/information that is currently available and has been gathered, it was added.

In accordance with Valuation Regulation No. 1534/2021, the Customs values of Non-Carbon Releasing Paper, Art Card/Coated Board/Paper, and Light Weight Coated Papers were established, according to ruling 1717 of 2022. However, a number of stakeholders asked that the values set by Customs be updated to reflect those found on the global market.

This Directorate has therefore conducted an exercise to ascertain the same.

The new decision said that the values of Non-Carbon Releasing Paper, Art Card/Coated Board/Paper, and Light Weight Coated Papers have been established based on the data/information available and exercise undertaken.
