Reportedly, on Friday, at the Sindh Industrial and Trading Estate (SITE), private company employees were called for the distribution of zakat food rations. People were gathered in huge numbers, and in the distribution turmoil, many died, including nine women and three children.

As reported by the rescue sources, six other people have also fainted in this mayhem. Many bystanders told the official and media that hundreds of people were gathered there for the zakat distribution.

Injured people were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed hospital, as it was close. According to Edhi sources, all the deceased were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, which included three younger girls among the nine women.

As a response to this incident, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah was also investigating this matter. He demanded a prompt report about the incident from the commissioner. According to the police officials present at the site, they confirmed that more than 400 people were gathered for the zakat distribution at the Private Factory site. Superintendent of Police (SP) Muhammad Mughees stated that they were also not informed of such activity beforehand by either the Private Industry officials or employees. So far, seven people have been arrested for further investigation.

During this crushing economy, many people, organizations, and government-backed projects are underway for the welfare and support of deserving families. But incidents like these completely turn the tables in the opposite direction.

Among many celebrities, Ayesha Omar expressed her sorrow for the loss of lives of many people. She prayed for the prosperity and betterment of the government’s implications of laws and peaceful activities.
