Iqbal Mohmand, a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) in the district Lakki Marwat, and three members of his squad chose martyrdom, while six police officers were injured in a supposedly planned terrorist attack on a police station and an IED explosion on the DSP’s vehicle on Thursday morning.

Initially, terrorists attacked the Sadar police station using sophisticated, powerful weapons. However, police officers, who were already on high alert, responded appropriately, forcing the terrorists to retreat and flee.

There were five police officers wounded in the exchange, including Constables Amanatullah, Azghar Ali, Gul Tiaz, and Arif.

At Peerwale Mor, an IED blast martyred DSP Iqbal Khan Mohmand and three of his gunners, including Karamat, Waqar, and Ali Marjan, while injuring the vehicle’s driver, Sardar Ali. DSP Iqbal Mohmand and his team rushed to the police station immediately after the information began to spread on the police wireless system. However, while doing so, they were martyred.

The other police units were also on scene, cordoning off the area, and searching for the suspects. Following the arrival of Rescue 1122 crews, the injured and the bodies were transported to hospitals.
