Concerns concerning the confidentiality of Pakistani citizens’ communications have been raised in light of the recent disclosure of private telephone conversations between a Supreme Court judge and the former chief minister of Punjab, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.
The right to dignity and privacy is strongly guaranteed by Article 14 of the Constitution and may not be compromised except under specific legal circumstances.
It was learned that the judges thoroughly discussed the apex court rulings wherein the court had made various observations regarding the phone tapping of judges during their meeting on Friday, in addition to examining the recent audio tape of the judge.
