The LHC overturns the ECP’s decision to denotify 43 PTI lawmakers

The order of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) regarding the de-notification of 43 PTI MNAs was suspended on Wednesday by the Lahore High Court

The change occurs a week after 43 National Assembly (MNA) members of the former government, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, petitioned a court to nullify notices that the NA speaker had accepted resignations and that seats had been declared empty by the election commission.

The petition was decided by Justice Shahid Karim of the LHC, who barred the commission from holding by-elections in the constituencies until further orders.

A day after PTI legislators stated they were withdrawing their resignations last month, NA Speaker Ashraf accepted their resignations.
