Haris Rauf has surpassed Shadab Khan to take the top spot among Pakistani bowlers in the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s T20I Bowler Rankings after taking ten wickets in three T20I matches.
In the current T20I series against New Zealand, Rauf picked up back-to-back four-wicket hauls, earning Player of the Match honors in the opening contest.
The Pakistani fast bowler finished last week just behind Shadab Khan, who was ranked 12th in the T20I bowling rankings, and just ahead of Shaheen Afridi. With ten wickets throughout the first three T20Is, Rauf has climbed five spots in the rankings to take up the 11th position.
By the end of the five-match series, he may have reached a career-high rating of 657 points, which would put him in the top 10 of all time.
While the others around them lost ground, Ish Sodhi (620) and Shaheen (624) also advanced by four and two positions, respectively.
The other significant change in the rankings was caused by Sri Lanka, as Prabath Jayasuriya kept up his remarkable start to red-ball cricket. In his extremely brief six-match Test career, the left-arm spinner racked up a ten-wicket match haul against Ireland in the first Test.
With five five-wicket hauls, Jayasuriya has already taken 43 wickets in six Test matches. His career-high seven-wicket haul in the Galle Test against Ireland propelled him up 13 spots and into the top 20 of the ICC Test bowling rankings.
Jayasuriya not only set a career high in ratings (669), but he also rose to the top spot among Sri Lankan bowlers in Test cricket. Next at No. 32 is Ramesh Mendis (576), who rose three spots after taking four wickets in the second innings of the Test match against Ireland.
Over the course of the Test, Sri Lankan hitters also improved, with skipper Dimuth Karunaratne moving up one spot to No. 9 after scoring 179 off 235 balls and recording a career-high rating of 783.
Dinesh Chandimal, whose impressive Test run of form continued with an unbeaten hundred in Galle, climbed another four spots to break into the top 15. His current ranking is 14th with 693 rating points.
Since the beginning of 2022, Chandimal has enjoyed success in Test cricket, averaging over 90 in the format.
