For PSL 8, Babar Azam Joins Peshawar Zalmi.

Babar Azam, the most successful batter in Pakistan Super League (PSL) history and the all-format captain of Pakistan, will play in the eighth PSL season for Peshawar Zalmi.

The competition will take place in Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Multan between February 9 and March 19 of the next year.

Before the trade and retention window closed on Friday night, the 2017 champions Zalmi acquired Babar in the Platinum category and the first pick in the additional round for Haider Ali and Shoaib Malik, who will move to Karachi Kings, the winners of the 2020 edition, in the Platinum and Diamond categories, respectively.

Before the PSL Player Draft, when the squad size can be increased to 18 players (three in each of the Platinum, Diamond, and Gold categories, five in the Silver category, and two in the Emerging category), a team can assemble up to eight players during the trade and retention window.Babar is the lone player for Peshawar Zalmi in the Platinum category. He was previously with Islamabad United before heading to Karachi Kings.

Mohammad Haris, whose fearless batting has lightened up the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, is in Gold, while Wahab Riaz and Sherfane Rutherford are in Diamond.

The only team to keep seven players is Zalmi.

Shoaib joins Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir in the Diamond division, while Haider is the lone player from Karachi in the Platinum division.
